COACHING

The New Testament word "disciple" translates as "learner or pupil". Mentorship is essential to the process of following Jesus.

This doesn't stop when we become leaders. Instead, our need for someone to walk alongside us often increases as we take on more responsibility.

Coaching allows a leader to leverage the experience, perspective and resources of another who is committed to their good and growth.

Coaching sessions occur every 2-4 weeks, typically last about an hour and include a combination of the following:

Connection with dedicated time for Listening
Situational Processing
Intentional Development that includes both Personal Formation (Character) & Professional Growth (Competency)
Healthy Accountability, Encouragement & Challenge

Depending on your needs and budget, coaching can be provided individually or in groups. Connections can happen in person or virtually as dictated by your location and desires.

CARE

Leading others in the Way of Jesus (in or outside of church settings) can be challenging. For example, a recent poll of pastors revealed:

33% pondered quitting last year
60% doubted their calling
25% had a serious crisis of faith
18% contemplated self-harm

These stats were actually improvements over the past few years!

Those who spend their lives caring for others often don't receive much care themselves. I (Fred) went years as a pastor without anyone in my church asking me how I was really doing.

And if they had asked, I may not have been super vulnerable. Sometimes leaders don't feel like they can be very open with those they serve.

At Overflow, we understand the tensions leaders live in and are deeply committed to expressing care for those we work with through practices like:

Counseling (with a licensed professional as requested/available)

COMMUNICATION

It takes a lot of time and energy to communicate well. Especially when you do it week after week and year after year.

After speaking to groups 40-50 weeks a year for over 20 years, I (Fred) can confirm this!

Sometimes, a leader just needs a break and the chance to assume the posture of a learner. Or maybe those they lead need to hear a different voice or perspective.

CONSULTING

If we're going to do Kingdom work (wherever we find ourselves), we have to be led by the Spirit and depend on the power of God.

We also need to utilize the abilities and tools that God entrusted to us as people made in His image.

Properly positioned and utilized, this includes things like strategic planning and evaluation.

We can blend a fresh outside perspective with a dogged curiousity about your unique context to assist with things like:
